CRA Board of Commissioners
Mr. Blocker is a retired professional and business man, and is a lifelong resident of Okaloosa County. He has been a property owner and resident of the City of Crestview for more than fifty years. His chosen vocation is in the commercial construction industry and has been engaged in this vocation for more than sixty years. Appointed April 2013-2017.
Shannon Hayes was elected to the City Council on March 12, 2013 and was sworn in to office on April 1, 2013. Mr. Hayes holds Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music from Bethune-Cookman University. He also holds certification and training in EEU Investigation, Time Management, Customer Relations and Computers. Mr. Hayes’ 32 years in Retail Management for the Army and Air Force Exchange System (AAFES) reflects extensive experience in Budgeting, Human Resources and Planning. Appointed April 2013-2021.
Councilman JB Whitten was elected on March 10th, 2015, and sworn in to office on April 2nd, 2015. He is a retired member of the United States Air Force and a retired Florida high school teacher. JB serves on many community organizations and committees. Appointed April 2015-2019.
Mr. Cox is the Councilman of Group 2–at Large (All Areas). He was elected 04/02/2015 – 03/31/2019. Mr. Cox has lived in Crestview for 11 years. He served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve in Supply Administration and Embarkation and Logistics Specialist. He has 24 years as an industrial finishing equipment sales manager. Mr. Cox has served on the Board of Adjustment, Local Planning Agency Board OWTPO Citizens Advisory Committee. Appointed April 2015-2019.
Margareth Larose-Pierre, PharmD., serves as Associate Dean, for FAMU’s Durrell Peaden Jr. Education Center which offers degrees in pharmaceutical studies. Dr. Larose has a long history of providing clinical services in health care systems. She joined the CRA as a representative of the higher educational facilities within the downtown CRA district. Appointed through July 2018.
The Council member is a lifelong resident of Crestview and a retired Sergeant from the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department. In the 1970’s, he was appointed to an Annexation Committee by long time Mayor George Whitehurst. Since then, Doug has been associated with several civic organizations, clubs and city committees. Appointed Oct. 2015-2021.
Mr. Gautney has been a long time resident of Crestview and has lived in the CRA district not only as a resident but as a successful business man. His success has been in operating a business on Main Street and managing commercial property. He is a member of the Main Street Crestview Association and is a strong advocate for redevelopment. Appointed through July 2018.
